Fox Commons Earns 2026 TOBY Renovated Building Award

1024�˹��, in partnership with Dark Horse Development, is proud to announce that Fox Commons in Appleton, Wis., has been awarded the 2026 TOBY Award in the Renovated Building category by BOMA Wisconsin. The TOBY Awards are among the commercial real estate industry’s highest honors, celebrating excellence in building management, operations and redevelopment.

This distinction reflects the extraordinary transformation of Fox Commons from an underutilized retail property into a thriving mixed-use destination that connects people, services, and opportunities in the heart of downtown Appleton.

Located at 10 E. College Avenue, Fox Commons was reimagined through a redevelopment effort that helped redefine a key downtown landmark. Today, the approximately 180,000 SF building brings together Lawrence University, Mosaic Family Health, Prevea Health and other community-centered organizations, fostering collaboration among students, healthcare providers, entrepreneurs and residents.

The project included extensive building improvements, including a new roof system and skylights, modernized HVAC and electrical infrastructure, new fire and life-safety systems, elevator upgrades, building envelope improvements, renovated common areas and the creation of new amenity spaces. These improvements transformed the former mall environment into a modern, flexible mixed-use facility while maintaining occupancy throughout redevelopment.

Beyond the physical transformation, Fox Commons has made a lasting impact on the broader community. The redevelopment created new student housing opportunities, expanded healthcare access, activated downtown through public art and events, supported local entrepreneurs and established a year-round gathering space through its central atrium and community programming. Fox Commons was also recognized by Appleton Downtown Inc. with its Mike Pfefferle Dreamers & Doers Award for its transformative impact on the downtown district.

Winning the TOBY Renovated Building Award reinforces Fox Commons’ role as a catalyst for economic development and community connection in downtown Appleton. The project stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful redevelopment and the value that strategic investments can bring to communities.

Ortlieb Named Director of Self – Perform for The 1024�˹�� Company

Appleton, WIS. — [October 6, 2026] — The 1024�˹�� Company is pleased to announce the promotion of Nate Ortlieb to Director of Self-Perform.

In this role, Ortlieb is responsible for the development and execution of 1024�˹��’s self-perform strategy by implementing standardized processes that strengthen safety, quality, reporting and production planning across all operations. He works directly with project teams and operational leaders to support pursuit decisions, resource planning and field readiness, aligning the right people with the right tasks to achieve reliable, repeatable performance.

Ortlieb began his career with 1024�˹�� in 2001 as a Carpenter Apprentice and held several positions until 2018. After a few years with a local construction firm, he returned in 2020 to serve as Self-Perform Operations Manager. He holds an associate degree in carpentry from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

Lawton Youth Sports Trust Authority – The Plex: Project Progress

A new sports and recreation complex is set to become a premier destination for athletics, fitness and engagement for the Lawton, Okla. community. The development will feature a 141,000 SF indoor facility with eight basketball courts convertible into 16 volleyball courts, two turf fields, 7,500 SF of fitness space, and four multipurpose rooms for meetings, training and community events. The facility will also include the Field House Café, providing a welcoming space for dining and social interaction.

Outside, the complex will offer surfaced playing fields supported by irrigation, lighting, fencing and backstops, along with parking, walkways, stormwater management systems and other site amenities. Designed to promote active lifestyles and enhance community connectivity, the complex will serve residents of all ages while attracting regional tournaments, events and visitors, creating a vibrant hub for recreation, wellness and economic growth.

Site Work and Demolition in Progress

Construction activities at The Plex continue to progress, with demolition of existing structures and sports lighting nearing completion while earthwork efforts advance across the site. Crews are actively preparing the building pad and supporting infrastructure to position the project for the next phase of development.

Upcoming work will focus on underground utility installation, a key milestone that will support continued construction throughout the complex. As activity expands across the site, work is moving forward on multiple fronts, reflecting the coordinated efforts required to bring this community-focused destination to life.

Construction of The Plex is officially underway following a milestone groundbreaking ceremony, marking a significant step forward for the community. 1024�˹�� Delivers Emergency CT Simulator Replacement at Sutter Medical Center Sacramento

When a critical CT simulator serving cancer patients at Sutter Medical Center Sacramento unexpectedly failed, the facility faced an urgent challenge: replace the equipment and restore vital treatment planning capabilities as quickly as possible.

1024�˹�� partnered with Sutter Health to deliver the replacement project under an emergency authorization process, allowing construction to begin while design was still being developed and undergoing review by HCAi. The replacement took place within the active Radiation Oncology Center in the basement of a Women’s & Children’s Center, requiring careful planning and coordination to minimize disruption to ongoing hospital operations and patient care.

Originally envisioned as a straightforward equipment replacement, the project grew significantly to better support operational and clinical needs. In addition to installing a new Siemens CT simulator, the team completed lead-lined wall construction; upgraded lighting, flooring, casework and finishes; and modified portions of the existing concrete slab to accommodate new conduit pathways required for the equipment installation.

Despite an accelerated schedule, evolving design requirements and the complexities of working in an occupied healthcare environment, the project team successfully delivered the renovation in six months. The accomplishment was made possible through exceptional collaboration among Sutter facility staff, design partners, HCAi and the 1024�˹�� team, ensuring critical cancer treatment planning services could return to operation as quickly as possible.

PIH Health Celebrates New Whittier Medical Office Building Topping Out Ceremony

PIH Health’s Whittier Medical Office Building project in Whittier, Calif., celebrated a major milestone with a topping out ceremony, marking completion of the steel portion of the structure.

PIH Health leaders, elected officials, city council members and project partners, including 1024�˹��’s Southern California team and , gathered at the hospital campus project site to celebrate with a beam-signing ceremony.

“This project has reached several major milestones in a short period of time — from groundbreaking to structural completion,” said Jameson Henning, Project Manager, The 1024�˹�� Company. “The progress reflects the strength of the entire team, including our field crews, trade partners, Boulder Associates design team and partners at PIH Health and the City of Whittier.”

Built with tilt-up construction

The new medical office building is being delivered using tilt-up construction, a technique where concrete wall panels are cast on site and lifted into place. The exterior will feature formed recesses, textured form liner and Tex-Cote finishes, creating a modern aesthetic that complements the region’s natural landscape. Additionally, 1024�˹��’s Self-Perform team is fabricating and installing the building’s millwork to support an efficient delivery.

Expanding specialty care access

Once complete, the facility will centralize a broad range of outpatient services at PIH Health Whittier Hospital, streamlining access to specialties, diagnostics and lab services for patients across Southern California.

“Today’s topping out ceremony represents more than construction progress — it reflects our continued commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of our growing community,” said Andrew Zwers, President, PIH Health Physicians. “We are grateful for our partnership with the City of Whittier, The 1024�˹�� Company and all those helping bring this vision to life. This new facility will expand access to high-quality primary and specialty care, ensuring patients can receive the services they need close to home.”

With the structure now complete, the team will shift focus to interior buildout and MEP installation. 1024�˹�� will continue working closely with PIH Health and campus stakeholders to maintain safe, uninterrupted operations throughout construction.

The facility is on track to open in 2027.
